April 2024 Update

¡Hola familia Sow Hope!

Can you believe it’s already April? Time is flying by! It is hard to believe how it has already been three years since we started dreaming about creating a nonprofit to enable us to help others. Austin and I have always been passionate about helping others through education and mentorship because we have both experienced firsthand the impact it can have on someone's life. There have been countless people in our lives who have cared for us in many ways and continue to do so, and now it is a huge blessing for us to get to do the same for others. We wouldn’t be able to do it without your support and words of encouragement. This month, we wanted to share what WE, the Sow Hope Family, has been able to accomplish during these past three years.

  • We have awarded 16 Futuro Brillante Scholarships. These scholarships bridge the gap between dreams and opportunities. Oftentimes, students don’t dream of a brighter future because they don’t have access to opportunities. Thanks to your support, we have been able to give students the opportunity to dream big and accomplish their dreams.

  • We have provided over 70 Food Baskets to families in need. Most of these food baskets were given during COVID-19, when many people lost their main source of income and were able to provide for themselves. We partnered with a leader of the community of El Obispo Yamaranguila, whose name was Don Chilo. He passed away about two years ago, but we were overwhelmed by his love for his community. He recruited volunteers to help us organize the times to deliver the baskets and share words of encouragement during hard times.

  • We blessed over 170 teachers during Honduras’ Teacher’s Day back in 2021. This was a hard year for teachers as they had to transition to teaching online and encountered a lot of challenges. We were overwhelmed with the incredible gratitude we received from all of them.

  • We partnered with the community of La Cuesta in La Union Lempira to help celebrate Honduras’ Children’s Day. La Cuesta is an underserved and often overlooked village with roughly 60 kids enrolled in their school. The school only has two teachers and two classrooms. We provided each student with a gift bag that included school supplies, a toy, and candy.

  • We teamed up with Off-road scholars to provide school supplies for 125 kids in underserved communities of Intibuca. Often, students don’t go to school because of the lack of resources.

  • We were able to furnish and repair a teacher’s lounge in La Union Lempira. This was incredibly encouraging for teachers.

  • We sent 4 microscopes to a school in La Union Lempira.

  • We sent over 250 chairs and five boxes of books to a school in Gualcinse.

  • We have hosted multiple in-person and online workshops to encourage students to pursue their dreams.

  • We provided resources for a kindergarten class in La Union Lempira.

  • We sent out over 12 care packages to students studying in the US.

  • We will get to build a gym and purchase computers for a computer lab in La Union Lempira.

  • We have provided mentorship to high school students for the past 3 years

  • Fans for classrooms

  • Bible study

Needless to say, we have accomplished so much with all your support. We are incredibly blessed to have a community like this. These three years have been a testament to God’s mercy and provision. There is no way we would be able to do what we do without people who believe in us and our mission as Christians is to love our neighbors and be agents of change. Our mission at Sow Hope is to provide education resources to underprivileged students, teachers, schools, and communities. We have been able to accomplish this and so much more. It has definitely been hard, but we have grown so much more, and we are constantly reminded of dreaming big. We will forever be grateful for your support. We pray that you are encouraged to read all of what WE have accomplished and feel part of our Sow Hope Family. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for us.

Con mucho amor,

Alejandra + Austin Hudson Reyes
